The first few weeks are exciting, busy, and sometimes a little overwhelming this guide will help you know what’s normal, what’s not, and how to give your kitten the best start.

It’s completely normal for kittens to:
Tip: Start your kitten in a small, quiet room with:
Occasionally, mild stress-related upper respiratory symptoms may occur during adjustment and typically resolves quickly.
These are reffered to as "cat colds".
How common? Very common. Even well-cared-for kittens can develop mild symptoms due to stress and environmental change. Many kittens are exposed early in life and may carry dormant viruses that flare up during stressful events (like going to a new home).
Just like humans, cats & kittens can get colds too! Don't worry, these are in most cases treatable !
Shop our cattery faves, we have food items, treats, cat trees, scratchers, litter boxes, litter, food bowls & water fountain items & many toys we love!
These are great items I personally LOVE & would recommend.
Cat Trees
“Vertical space for climbing, lounging, and confidence—cat trees let cats scratch, perch, and feel safely in control of their territory.”
Scratching Pads
“Scratching pads protect your furniture while keeping claws healthy and stress levels low—because scratching is a need, not a habit.”
Interactive Toys
“Interactive toys stimulate your cat’s natural hunting instincts, helping prevent boredom, anxiety, and unwanted behaviors.”
Coat type: short, extremely dense (think velvet + marshmallow)
British Shorthair and British Longhair cats are naturally clean and rarely need bathing. Bathe only when necessary, about every 3–6 months for Shorthairs and every 2–3 months for Longhairs, or if the coat becomes dirty or greasy. Always brush the coat before bathing, use lukewarm water and a cat-specific shampoo, and avoid the face and ears. Rinse thoroughly to remove all product, then gently towel dry and keep your cat warm until fully dry. Never use human shampoo, do not submerge your cat, and stop if your cat becomes overly stressed.
