When can you bring your kitten home?
Kittens will not leave my care until they are 12-16 weeks +
Our kittens remain in our care until 16 weeks of age, as this period is essential for their physical, emotional, and social development. During these early weeks, kittens continue learning vital behaviors from their mother and littermates, including proper play, social communication, grooming, and confidence building.
We use this time to ensure each kitten receives appropriate veterinary care, completes their early vaccination schedule, and is carefully monitored for health and temperament. Just as importantly, it allows us to properly socialize our kittens to household environments, helping them grow into confident, well-adjusted companions.
By the time our kittens leave for their new homes, they are not only healthy but also emotionally prepared for the transition, giving them the best possible start in life.
Understanding Our Kitten Evaluations & Availability
Pick of the Litter
“Pick of the litter” refers to the kitten who most closely aligns with our long-term breeding goals. This evaluation is based on:
- Structure and balance
- Head type and profile
- Bone and body proportion
- Coat quality and color development
- Temperament
- Pedigree compatibility
This designation is not about which kitten is the “cutest” or largest it is about which kitten best represents the direction of our breeding program. We reserve the right to retain this kitten before offering availability to pet homes free of any genetic health issues.
Breeding Quality - Rights Not Available
Breeding quality kittens are those who meet very strict criteria for structure, health, and pedigree. These kittens:
- Closely align with breed standards
- Come from fully health-tested lines
- Show traits worth preserving
- Contribute positively to future generations
Hold back for our own program.
We do not place kittens with other catteries at this time.
Not every beautiful kitten is considered breeding quality, and not every breeding quality kitten will be available.
Show Quality
Show quality means that, at the time of evaluation, a kitten most closely meets or exceeds the written breed standard. These kittens demonstrate:
- Excellent conformation
- Strong overall balance
- Correct coat and eye development
- Confident, adaptable temperament
Because kittens continue to grow and mature, show potential is always an educated evaluation not a guarantee.
Why We Sometimes Hold Back Kittens
Occasionally, we retain a kitten to evaluate for our own breeding program. This decision is made thoughtfully and with long-term planning in mind.
Reasons may include:
- Preserving a valuable pedigree combination
- Strengthening a specific structural trait
- Advancing our program’s goals
- Evaluating development before making final decisions
Some kittens require additional time to mature before a placement decision can be made. During this evaluation period, the kitten may be listed as “under observation” or “not available at this time.”
If a retained kitten later becomes available, families on our approved waitlist are contacted first.
